Fashion in the Eyes of 2017. .
Altho I got a pretty late start with the Fashion Trends for 2017. Once I got my schedule back on track I’ve gotten right to it! Let’s get started!
One of the first collections I watched was the Chanel S/S (spring and summer collection) ’17. I loved (emphasis on the LOVE) this entire collection from beginning to end. I am going to try and get the link to the video and link it to this entry so that you can all experience the beauty, class and grace. Not just of the designs but the styling the creative direction for the line was impeccable.
The first trend that I have noticed are Ruffles. I have seen ruffles on sleeves, ruffles on trains and more. Ruffles first made their debut to the fashion industry in1530-1575 with its conservative style styled with high fitted collars. The long sleeve Women’s dresses often times ended with a classic ruffle. Then re- appeared from the Edwardian era to WWI, specifically around 1900-1908. Frilly ruffles called jabots were placed at the front of the neck of women’s dresses and continued to evolve throughout the century.
I noticed a good amount of clavicle baring garments as well. I’m assuming that is definitely going to be a style that is going to continue to make a comeback. This sleek off the shoulder look is great for any time. Summer especially! For many who don’t know this particular style is technically a style or fashion trend that has been on and off again since the 1800’s. If you haven’t heard it before you are hearing it now, “Fashion Trends repeat often”, and that’s okay! I believe that’s one way to keep the fashion industry interesting to those who have a passion for fashion. It also gives us a chance to think outside the box and be trail blazers as well. Which leads me to the next trend or style I see making a comeback. The short heel along with the chunky heel. It shocked me because I noticed that heels are not getting higher or fancier, they are getting simpler and getting shorter. Calling for more comfort and less discomfort. The trends are speaking for themselves, I can hear them saying ‘Beauty Does Not Hurt”.
Once again, an example of the previous quote “Fashion Repeat often” say it with me, “Fashion Trends repeat often”. For this particular trend or style this style has been around off and on since 1950. Below are some
examples of the few styles we discussed.
